I'm an early-teen girl with insomnia. It used to take me 3-4 hours to fall asleep, but with this app I can fall asleep in 3-4 MINUTES! It's an app I always use before important days!

App Store review

After downloading the app my average sleep time increased from 2 hours 23 minutes to 4 hours 48 minutes. Deep sleep also increased by about 27 minutes!

I saw your reply saying you went to Norway alone with professional equipment and spent thousands of hours on this app. The time investment was worthwhile.

Why Sonora

A calm, uncluttered interface

A minimalist design focused purely on rest, with a true dark mode that keeps screen light low before sleep.

Relaxation that doesn’t cost a fortune

Premium features at a fraction of what the big subscription apps charge. You pay for sound, not overhead.

Studio-quality, spatial sound

Every soundscape is recorded in real places with Soundfield ambisonic microphones, so it keeps its depth on headphones and speakers alike.

Truly offline

Sound playback works with no connection at all — on a flight, in a dead zone, or with the router off for the night. Internet is only needed to validate or restore a purchase.

Built by an acoustic scientist

Sonora is designed by a researcher who publishes on how people actually respond to sound — including a field study of 77,408 Sonora users.

The science behind Sonora

Every sound in the library is recorded in a real place with a Soundfield ambisonic microphone — no synthesis, no generative audio, no loops short enough to notice. The engineering goal is simple: sound that stays believable for hours.

We also study how people respond to it. Twelve months of anonymised listening data from Sonora became a field study presented at Forum Acusticum 2026 in Graz.

There is no universally optimal sleep soundscape.

Between-user variation in acoustic response was 7–9× the population-mean effect.
